Dear Colleagues,
Officers and Members of IAHR member associations/societies and affiliates,
This email serves two purposes: to direct your attention to the IAHR Bulletin 42, August 2025, Kraków Congress Edition, and to issue a final call for the upcoming meetings of the IAHR International Committee and General Assembly. IAHR General Assembly
According to Article 4a of the IAHR Constitution:
“The General Assembly of the Association meets at each quinquennial congress and is composed of all members of constituent societies and associations present at that congress. The General Assembly may take action only on matters referred to it from the International Committee, and it may refer any matter to the International or Executive Committees for consideration and support.”
In addition, Rules 1a, 5a, 5b, and 15a of the IAHR Rules of Procedure state:
- Rule 1a: “Constituent member societies and associations are national and regional bodies with provisional or full membership of the IAHR (Article 3A of the Constitution) and whose membership has not lapsed.”
- Rule 5a: “The General Assembly consists of all individual members of fully paid-up constituent societies and associations of the IAHR present at the quinquennial congress.”
- Rule 5b: “Each constituent national or regional society and association shall provide the General Secretary of the IAHR with a list of paid-up individual members who shall thus be recognized as voting members of the General Assembly. Members of affiliated societies of the IAHR may attend a General Assembly but do not have the right to vote.”
- Rule 15a: “Voting rights at the General Assembly are the privilege of those who are confirmed as members of a fully paid-up constituent member society or association. The General Secretary, in consultation with members of the Executive Committee, shall alone determine whether a constituent society or association is fully paid up at the time of a vote to be taken by the General Assembly. Individual affiliates and members of affiliated associations may be present at the General Assembly, but may not vote.”
As this final call and the IAHR Bulletin are addressed not only to the officers of member associations and affiliated societies, but also to all individual members, I urge you—pursuant to Rule 5e of the IAHR Rules of Procedure—to do your utmost to share this message and the Bulletin with your membership.
IAHR International Committee
According to Article 4b of the IAHR Constitution:
“The International Committee is composed of: (i) Two representatives each of the constituent national and regional societies; (ii) The Executive Committee […]; (iii) Up to four individual members co-opted by the International Committee on the recommendation of the Executive Committee.”
Rule 5e further states that:
“The officers of each constituent or affiliated society and association shall notify the General Secretary of the IAHR of the name(s) of the designated representative(s).”
The list of appointed delegates to the International Committee Meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 09:00 to 12:00, along with relevant constitutional excerpts and rules, can be found in Section 3 of IAHR Bulletin 42. Each announced delegate will be notified about the meeting and the Bulletin following this message. I ask you, the officers of member associations and affiliates, to ensure that your delegate has received the announcement and the Bulletin—particularly if the delegate is not yourself.
Please inform me as soon as possible of any changes or additions to the list of delegates to the 2025 International Committee.
I look forward to meeting you in Kraków. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
On behalf of the IAHR President,
Sincerely yours,
Satoko Fujiwara, IAHR Secretary General
